Land Management Surveys Ancient Surveying/Land Systems?

Ancient Surveying/Land Systems? - land management surveys

At the moment I have the task of developing a class of work on the part of the history of the survey. In the course we propose ancient Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia, the country with the school, but I wanted to play the role into something more exotic. Id like to do, or the Aztecs or the Japanese (Edo period post-1800). Now I know that all information be on the land of the Aztecs management is quite difficult, but as Tenochtitlan, an island-based Capitol, a sort of sketch of Education had been formed on the presentation of the city. If someone could shoot me a link or the name of the author on one of the ancient Aztecs or Website Design in Japan / measurement systems, Id very grateful! Thank you!

I think their methods are simple geometry and the distribution of land to the Capitol, the age and family size used by the Sumerians.
Methods were more "advanced", but this seems logical.
